Attention HEALTHCARE & LIFE SCIENCES sector professionals . What are the promising sectors driving m&a activity for lower mid market investment banks?

Hello, I have a case study presentation to select a few sub sectors within the healthcare and life sciences space and present on the commercial opportunity about the sub sector and also specific companies I can suggest for this IB to go after. Looking for companies with revenues of £5m - £35m as it is a lower mid market IB. I have been told look at sub sectors that have not had much activity in the last 3 years or are still fragmented sectors essentially where the promise could be for growth in those sectors. If you have any ideas would be much appreciated. I have been told don’t look at hospitals or nursing homes and have been given ideas like medical device cdmo’s and niche cro’s healthcare data analytics. Any ideas on other sub sectors please I should consider? Also any suggested readings would be really helpful. The focus should be UK/ Europe but happy to consider from a global perspective. Thank you!

in general, look at CROs and think of what might be good target for them. some mid-market names include bioscript, lucid, helios, prescient

some are body shops where Rev per FTE is pretty much the same but by aggregating into bigger group, you benefit a bit from scale and reputation and expanding into adjacent areas (e.g. covering the whole lifecycle or becoming a one-stop shop) gives you multiple arbitrage. this is one reason why they're being consolidated
