Media portrays it as such especially liberal sources. Worked at a PE-backed company of one of the firms listed here and it was a fantastic experience. I've worked at other healthcare companies (including public) and I can honestly say the PE-backed company was the most efficient with how it handled costs / innovation. Granted my experience may be an anomaly as the company's 'exit sale' proved to be an absolute homerun.

I enjoy following some healthcare academics on LinkedIn but some of them are heavily biased against PE with anecdotal stories to back up their claims.
