Best place to get historical funds

All

looking for info on what’s the best way to get data on buy-out funds with the following criteria

- vintage from 2000 to 2018

- size > $2bn

- North America/ global

looking for size and IRR. I have already mined Calpers, Calstrs etc but looking for something more holistic. Ok to pay but Preqin and PitchBook are too expensive.

any help would be appreciated.

This won't give you an aggregated list (would have recommended Pitchbook but you mentioned it being too expensive, which I totally get if your firm doesn't give you an account) but I'd look for investor presentations for different funds. Usually pretty easy to find data for bigger funds but the downside is that it's obviously pretty tedious.

For example, I googled "H&F investor presentation" and the first result gave me the following link: https://www.sers.pa.gov/pdf/Investments/Investment%20Materials/Hellman-…
