Buyside Associate Recruiting as a current Buyside Analyst?
Do headhunters reach out to first year growth equity analysts for PE/Growth equity/VC associate recruiting? Or will I have to network at firms/reach out to headhunters? For context, working at a $5B+ AUM growth equity firm.
And how does it work logistically already being on the buyside? Obviously cannot let anyone at your own firm know at any cost, but it would probably be very suspicious if you were out of office around recruiting time...
Not sure I'm going to recruit yet but need to start thinking about it. Almost no info out there on associate recruiting for current buysiders.
Thanks!
Got some calls almost immediately after joining my firm as an analyst, mostly corp dev or small first-fund shops. Took about 2 years before getting called about legit associate roles.
Interesting, what size of fund was it? My shop is $5B+ AUM, wondering if that factors into things. Do you find that growth equity type/top VC shops don't recruit associates on the same timeline as PE?
