deal flow is highly politicized at BX, when Blitz founded the strategy in 2012 outside of flagship PE and RE what other strategies where at BX? Tac Opps acted almost like a seeding ground for the other strategies, if you look at BTO I and II they have infra deals, insurance deals, 100% credit deals, now no shot any of those would go to Tac Opps vs the respective BUs.

Also why does Blitz want to keep running the group? He's a billionaire, owns how many sports teams, and HBS keeps starting new ventures, seems like a way better gig.

Now Tac Opps is pretty much all SMA capital, which is pretty much perpetual so is it leaving? I doubt it, but who knows.

Did you get kicked out? Why would you leave Tac Opps looking at the deals you mention and go to a mid market credit shop? As someone else says, that doesnt really make any sense at all.

I did not get kicked out, no one really does at BX, you get moved around BUs until you choose to leave (look at some of the BXG guys).

But I didn’t see a long term career there, the MDs and SMDs are all very young , so what is the upward trajectory? I also saw the writing on the wall with deal flow being politicized, one of the larger SMAs was very unhappy with the strategy, and I believe Blitz is going to retire soon. There was 1 IC I remember specifically for Hub Insurance, got killed at IC. At that point the dynamic of Blitz with Gray etc, I just knew it wasn’t a place for me long term.
