Carlyle "junior analyst" position

Is anyone familiar with the "junior analyst" positions at Carlyle?

Looking through linkedin, most in the position seem to be straight from undergrad, mostly from non-target schools, and in different groups like investor relations, fund management, etc. The salary as reported on glassdoor is also really low- like 60k base. Is this a back office function? Does anyone know?

I'd say it is mostly middle office, since you won't be on a deal team you will be fulfilling requests from the deal teams to fund management and reporting etc... You will probably be staffed to work with GMS where there is a bit of internal reviews and supporting the investment teams, tax, and management with data requests. IMO approach it like an interesting alternative to options like operations or trade support. Good option if you think you'll want to do something else in two years.

It's an MO/BO role, with people working primarily in Fund Management, IT and IR. Fund Management is the legal/finance/compliance side of the firm. You'd look at the investments Carlyle is making and whether or not they're feasible based on the amount of money in a fund, whether there are any conflicts of interest, etc. It doesn't feed into the PE Associate program, but could be a good starting point depending on your interests.

As FinanceBrah said, it's essentially a support role but you do get the Carlyle name on your resume early on.

Do you know what are the typical exit opportunities. I would imagine you could switch to an actual pe role with another firm just based on the Carlyle brand.
