Has one of the biggest associate classes on the street and heard it's very much banking 2.0 in their industrials group. Top of street comp
Are you sure this applies to London, feels US? Associate classes are big because it’s a 4y program, isn’t it?
This. Associate classes are giant and it’s 3-4 years which actually has the opposite effect than the poster above says (you end up with a huge number of associates due to 3-4 overlapping large classes). You don’t have a prayer of getting promoted, so take the training, hope you close a deal and rerecruit. Know several associates there and they share this view. Also certain teams have had a very mixed returns record in last year or two which doesn’t help.
It's not 3-4YRs - there is a promotion cycle at the 2YR mark but yes massive HC with little chance of promotion [even if you are great associate]. One of the situations where arbitrary politics / luck of closing deal may decide outcome...
