Centerview NYC, LGP LA, or Ares LA

Need to decide between Centerview NYC, LGP LA, Ares LA (Associate positions)? Preference is to stay in NYC - what should I do?

LGP and Ares are both top shops in LA for PE. At the associate level however, it is quite difficult to make the jump from coast to coast (from what I've heard).

This is purely up to you, would you be more happy in a great PE seat at a great fund or would you rather be in NYC and give up the opportunity to be in PE at a great fun. This isn't to say that at CVP NYC you couldn't jump to MFPE (not sure on this as I am not familiar with the process)

I don't get why college students comment on things they don't have knowledge in. If you go to a firm at the caliber of LGP/Ares in LA you can absolutely go to NYC UMM (and perhaps even MF) lateral after 1-2 years.

Also in-terms of the consumer space its harder to get more 'prestigious' than LGP. LGP would be considered tier 1 consumer investors and if you have LGP on your resume you could easily move to consumer PE in NYC (note: I don't go to LGP but we have faced them in many consumer deals).
