Changing Industry Focus
Hey guys,
I was wondering if anyone had any insight on how difficult it is to change industry vertical after 2 years in a vertical that is seen as more specialized (i.e. 2 year of FIG PE to transition to consumer / healthcare, etc).
Any insight on how other firms view this sort of transition would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Probably not as hard as the other way around. You're still junior enough that most people will view you as pretty malleable, but it's obviously not as direct as staying within the same vertical.
Just have a good story of how they are related and your interest shifted
Thanks for the insight, I appreciate the thoughts. Just curious then, do you think it helps to mention my banking background, given its a more "traditional" vertical? Also would an MBA help, hurt, or do nothing?
I realize not a lot of people have probably done this before, but I'm trying to get a sense of what might be the best way to market myself to other more generalist funds.
