Clothing Choices - New Hire

I just accepted an offer at a well-known PE firm in NYC. I come from a very informal (tech) workplace where a polo shirt, jeans, and sneakers was the standard. I'm coming in as an AVP and I'm not a suit person at all.

I start in about 3 weeks and it was made very clear that the new firm will be suits and ties every day. Are there accepted suit and tie brands? How many suits and ties should I purchase? I'm not really worried about the cost since I want to get it right, first impressions are important. I've gone through Bloomingdales, Barneys, and C21 but the selection is overwhelming.

Happy to listen to any and all recommendations you PE folks have.
