Can confirm - and based on my source, yup. Pay bump was to encourage people to stay longer, especially given the mass exodus in IB&S and historically paying below other MF
.
WP is not the highest paying firm outside of Apollo lol. Know multiple shops that pay equal to Apollo at the associate level. Almost are all high-performing niche funds, e.g. GIP.
.
seriously? I've never heard any associate 1 at GIP quote anywhere near 390 all in. News to me. Also, curious about the other firms.
.
Not sure why the “lol” — with 30% increase WP Aso 1 now clearing $350-400k, no other MF is paying anywhere near that
I work at an UMM and I got paid ~375 for my first full year at the firm. I think a lot of UMM pay just as much, if not more than MF PE
Not True. Expectations for pretty much every MF (BX, KKR, Apollo at 400k) is around 350k (non top-bucket). That goes for BXC and Apollo Credit arms as well. Carlyle closer to 250-300k range.
Don’t think KKR or BX are $400k if you are talking about first year associates
I specifically said Apollo at 400k
Got it, fairly unclear as written then (i.e., why randomly call out BX / KKR when already implied given they are megafunds). Regardless KKR / BX are not at $350k for first year associates and there isn’t typically a concept of “buckets” at that point

360 As1, 400 As2.
Have a good friend there. Type of guy who seemingly could have worked anywhere in the industry out of college and chose to go to WP. Now I think he is associate there. Would not be surprised if they pay their people top of street or the highest on the street given him
There is no way you are a 2nd year analyst, judging from this comment.
