Do MM PE firms do on-cycle?
Incoming at a mid tier MM shop. Curious if it would be worth prepping for on-cycle PE. I've seen some conflicting info on whether on-cycle is just MF/UMM or if it includes MM PE, can anyone clarify please?
Some do, but most are off-cycle (even if very early in off-cycle). They are not competing with MFs for candidates so it doesn't make sense for them to be interviewing people in training at 2am on a Saturday...
I would still prep before you start, even if you're 100% skipping oncycle - you will never have college-level of free time again. It's always better to go back and review something you've already learned a year or so ago, versus starting from scratch when you're working insane hours. The prep isn't that much work, but if you can find like 20-30 hours total across senior spring it's a good use of time.
