Does the team you're on at a certain bank matter more than the bank name when thinking about exit opportunities?
I will be joining Jefferies M&A as a full-time analyst this summer. Curious to know if anyone has any insight into the group or any recommendations on how they recruited for buy-side coming out of the M&A group.
Ignore the title but can speak to another bank (Macquarie) where it does seem to matter as the people in some groups get way better exits than others.
Isn't that just cause Mac Cap is one of the strongest globally in infra but are really weak in everything else compared to the BBs? They might just be an edge case like HL RX tbh.
Yes but other groups outside of infra have great exits such as principal finance (which is under MacCap not MAM), aerospace and defense and software less so. Should also note that as someone with knowledge of this they’re not super weak compared to BB’s but definitely not on the same level; they do occasionally do sick deals Eg General Dynamics/CSRA which was like 10bn. Also is a function of the fact that Macq tends not to attract mega fund set hardos
