"ETFs" for private equity?

It seems like much of PE return is based on being able to access private assets (lack of differentiation between funds in the same size bracket and strategy, converging megafund PE returns to that from public equities market), do you think in the future, we can see "passive private equity" investing that allows non-institutional investors to access PE too? Similar to ETF for public markets.

Thanks!
