Excel Functions to Analyze Data
Recruiting right now but haven’t worked in a while. What are some of the must know functions/formulas yall use in excel to cut up information to analyze/present in decks/perform diligence on? Other than lookups or pivot tables
That's about it. Most databooks are just re-organizing data through look-ups/SUMIFS and/or creating charts and pivot tables.
Thank you! This will help me structure my answer better in interviews.
Sorry maybe I’m being dense but I’m not understanding how large would be helpful if you have a bunch of customer data for example?
Is it like sumif based on customer id —> roll up thousands of data entries into customer profiles —> rank customer —> % share of revenue gives you a “concentration”?
Yeah exactly, pretty commonly you might get a monthly revenue by customer file with one row per customer but the source data not sorted high-to-low. You can use the large function across a particular month (or annualized month of data) to pull the #1 largest account, next largest, etc. to assess concentration with top 1, 5, 10, etc.
