Freshman Internship -> PE

For someone looking into PE as junior year summer opportunity, would a capital markets internship (at EB) freshman year look the best as far as resume/experience goes? Or an equity/data research internship (at F500 company)? Please leave out comments regarding nepotism/"enjoy your freshman summer"/etc. Looking for genuine constructive feedback.

Assuming these are sure-fire opportunities, and sophomore summer will conceivably build on this experience, what would be the best choice?

Thanks!

Did you get this through a family friend? Either way, my advice would be to just enjoy your freshman summer.

Thank you for the insightful, thoughtful guidance. Well-said!

I bet you're a real asset to all who have the honor of working with you!

I would say the EB cap markets role would set you up really well for a sophomore year IBD advisory type of internship at the same EB or even another EB or a BB which will fit in nicely into building a competitive junior year resume for the PE internships you're talking about. Name-brand recognition is really important and showing that you were directly involved in a markets/advisory facing role will build a strong case for your passion and interests in IBD/finance.

I appreciate the guidance; that’s what I’ve been leaning toward. Thanks.

Bro wtf is going on nowadays. High school freshman are finding WSO, college first years are getting EB internships while I'm still trying to find one for my freshman summer, and Isaiah is stealing all the girls that I haven't even had conversations with this whole lockdown. Fuck this. Fuck this place.

Hahaha I love these responses. Been a long-time stalker of this website and was assuming I'd have about a 90% nasty/aggressive turnout. In regard to my original post and full disclosure: All of what I said is accurate. For the people who are getting upset, don't worry, I am a very unique circumstance. Not a traditional first-year.
