Global Infrastructure Partners - Culture / Experience

Can anyone reliably talk about GIP and what it's like there, keep hearing a variety of different opinions, some say that it's horrible, others say that you get amazing experience and learn a lot, others are saying it's not as bad, etc. are there any reliable sources on this? They just closed a massive transport deal in Germany and did the CyrusOne deal, plus they don't seem to stop fundraising, so they're obviously growing and doing well. Can anyone reliably shed some light on them?

Friend of mine genuinely looked 5 years younger a few months after leaving.

Hours are at the upper end of the market, culture is pretty stiff / hardo-esque, but you will touch some of the largest and most interesting deals within the infra space + probably learn quite a bit.  Not a sustainable gig IMO (just look at the turnover on LinkedIn) but may be worth it if you have a passion for infra and are willing to give up a couple years of your life.

Mid-level / senior folks live/breathe work.  Not a lot in the way of socializing, very little "how was your weekend" type chatter or shooting the breeze.  Probably clocking in 70 hours when not a deal, anywhere from 90-120 hours on a deal depending on what stage (going closer to 120 hours if approaching bid deadline / IC meetings).  They take a hard look at a lot of opportunities so the 90-120 hours can be more the norm.
