GMAT vs ACT for PE firms and headhunters
If my ACT score is below 30, is it best to retake it during my last year in college? If headhunters ask or PE firms, I could just list my highest score without saying I took it senior year of college (lol)
Other alternative is taking GMAT. I don’t think I want to go to business school or at least I don’t plan on it yet. I know GMAT scores expire within 5 years after taking it and can’t be used for MBA admission after that
So maybe the best option is just prepare for GMAT and get 750+? Or am I overthinking how important ACT vs GMAT score is for buyside recruiting? What would you do
GMAT is a significantly harder test. I got a 35 on the ACT without any studying but took months to get a similar % on the GMAT.
However, with that being said if you're going to be spending time studying for a test might as well study for the GMAT as you can use it for MBA apps down the line (if you choose to go)

I took the GMAT during my MF PE stint (going to b-school this fall), if you're in college and think b-school is even a possibility I would highly urge you to get it out of the way. My life for a solid 6 months was miserable studying for the GMAT after 14 hour work days
I wouldn't worry too much about the 5-year validity if you're thinking of 2+2 (IB+PE) or even one more year most people don't find that to be a limiting factor
Would the GRE be similarly valued as GMAT for PE? For business schools it doesn't matter but wondering if GMAT takes precedence on a finance resume.
