Golden Gate Capital thoughts?
Can anyone give more color on the firm, comp, culture, performance and so on? How does it compare with the other UMM funds?

Career Resources
Be more specific and I can try to provide some color, although GGC has popped on the forums quite a bit recently so do some digging on old threads as well.
Not OP, but hoping you could answer the following questions.
What's the interview process for the firm? Do they do case interviews like Bain Capital or are they more traditional finance interviews?
Do they still have an analyst program?
Do they sponsor MBA / Is there an opportunity to stay on post 2 years as an associate?
Who would you put in their peer group? Which firm is the closest comp?
What does fundraising/fund structure look like for them? Is it an evergreen vehicle or mostly drawdown capital?
What's up with Angel Island Capital (credit affiliate)? Are they mostly liquid high yield or opportunistic/special sits?
Few responses below:
Yes, they still have an analyst program. They seem to take a lot of ND kids.
Can't speak to the MBA part but there should still be the opportunity to stay on post 2 years as an associate. MBA placement into HBS / GSB is pretty good.
I would think of older established UMM funds as their comp set. I am thinking Berkshire, GTCR, MDP, etc. I'm sure some of their spinouts (e.g., Arcline) are comparable.
.
Don't personally know anyone that works there so don't want to sound off echo chambers although friends of friends have said it's a challenging spot to work. Number of successful spinouts probably speaks both to that and solid track record.
OP, do you have an offer or are interviewing currently at GGC?
Adding what I said in a different thread recently -
Turnover at the senior level due to founder taking most of the carry pool for himself, so when seniors get enough LP exposure they leave. Think there's a push to improve culture across the verticals with the new MDs, but not sure how that is going. Clearly smart people but seems the politics at the top is pushing a lot of people out. Also pay for juniors hasn't changed since like 2015 or something so is now well below market. Most of the spinouts are too early in their fund cycle to know exactly how they'll do, but they've definitely raised quite large funds so the reputation is there. Analyst program is there - lots of ND because of connection from former MD. Sponsor MBA and also allow for direct promote. UMM so peers would be similar UMM firms.
