Has IB / PE Lost Its Luster

Seems like in the past few months activity has just generally gone down. IB and PE are undoubtedly good jobs but now with AI + tech flourishing, it seems like everyone has shifted their attention elsewhere. Seems like AI is a generational shift in work, and I'm curious how this'll affect the perception of a finance career.
