Help evaluating MM funds

I’m an incoming analyst at a top group interested in going to a smaller fund - eg MDP, GTCR, Charlesbank, AEA, Searchlight, Arcline, etc. How would you evaluate these funds in terms of learning opportunities and exit opps? The public space is one I’m interested in too, post PE.
