High Performing MMs/UMMs in PE
Hi y’all. Curious to hear people’s opinions on this. What are some MM/UMM funds that are performing really well?
My mind goes to Marlin, AKKR, STG, GTCR, and firms like that but would love to hear more

Apax is a MF, and GTCR does some massive deals. Both have little in common with AKKR.
Updated. Thank you!
Lol don't think Marlin is doing well
The premise and the examples are almost mind-bogglingly in discord here.
I do not know which ones are best. These are the ones that came to mind but would appreciate input on the topic. I don’t see people discuss top performing MMs too often
How so? Marlin might be struggling but STG and AKKR are doing fine, no?
What about European funds? hg, Nordic, cinven?

Pretty sure Cinven delayed their recent fundraising
I'd probably say HG, HIG (European fund) and CapVest.
What about Vector or Banneker?
You will likely not get real answers. The only way you really know is if you're an LP looking at recent track record / fundraising docs or work at those firms. Both people probably don't want to call out specific firms, particularly the latter as it's not that hard to figure out who you are.
Bump
Would add Maple to this list—more of a crossover fund but private control deals are definitely within their mandate. Returns are lights out so far
Have good things too
What the fuck is this fund? Is it based in VT?
Yeah, Maple for sure. This fund will definitely be top quartile. They also had a crazy on cycle this year. Pulled in some top tier people.
Give Crosspoint a look. Big veterans and industry experts at senior level and I’m p sure their debut fund was > $1b
Isn't this the firm with a bunch of turnover recently? Sorry, not trying to call anyone out. just a name I've heard recently that wasn't doing so well actually.
Unless it was at Junior level, I think they only had one large senior turnover recently, and it was bc he got poached by Havelli to be the chairman. Great talent otherwise but I think they’ll still be fine. The senior team is cracked as it is
Marlin is doing terribly, and STG & AKKR are both doing phenomenally given they have raised oversubscribed funds in tough fundraising environments (especially for tech firms) recently. Agree with GTCR as well but that's more of a UMM/MF depending on how you define MF(i.e. if you define it as fund size greater than $10B like some do, GTCR is an MF). A new name I would add is: Arcline, they just raised an oversubscribed $4.5B fund which is quite more than half of their total AUM (total AUM slightly under $9B).
Crazy amount raised for a firm of their size and age. For sure keeping up with them
I would add New Mountain and Am Sec to the list.
