Hiring Lawyer to Look at Carry / Fund Docs

For people here with carry / fund investments, do you hire lawyers to look at the fund / carried interest docs that the partners put in front of you? Seems like there are often sneaky bells and whistles buried. On the other hand, not sure if negotiating is even possible, so might be a waste of personal legal dollars. What is normal?
