How Do You Get Into Deep Tech IB/Investing?
I'm an incoming SA in the software GE space, but I'm hoping to expand into DeepTech growth investing (biotech, agriculture, AI/ML, industrials, energy, materials science, hardware/electronics, and so on).
What kind of background is most useful for this type of investing? I've seen quite a few people from PhD and industry backgrounds, but the former is out of the question for me and I'd prefer to stay in investing. I am, however, willing to self-study quite intensively.
Is it possible to slowly move from software investing to DeepTech? Is it better to move to an Energy/Healthcare/Industrials banking/PE analyst program and work from there? I would love to stay at my software GE firm, but I don't want to shut the door on potential paths to DeepTech.
