BB REGL exits to Generalist PE

If you're in a IB BB REGL group that's strong, is it still possible to exit to UMM/MF generalist PE?  Or is it impossible?

Also, would you recommend lateraling to a different bank or just sticking it out in REGL?

It's already extremely competitive to get into a MF/UMM from a top BB group...simply not a lot of seats they need to fill each year.

Maybe this move is doable from Bofa but doubt it for other banks where RE isn't even considered the strongest coverage group.

yes its a personal interest thing. Also isnt REPE pay lower than regular corp PE

Pretty sure some MF’s best performing funds are/ were their RE platform so assume pay would be in line
