Has anyone heard anything about Valor Equity Partners? I saw they were investors in Musk startups (Tesla/SpaceX) but was wondering how they are regarded in the growth equity space and whether junior work is sourcing heavy like other growth funds. Comp, culture, hours info would be helpful as well, Thanks!

Good growth shop, but more under the radar than the traditional JMIs, Summit, TA, etc.
In my opinion they're a little more growth/venture-y as opposed to a Summit or TA where they're more growth/PE if that makes sense.
For example, no growth buyout shop would invest in Tesla/SpaceX and then tout how that's one of their best retursn whereas that seems to be one of Valor's favorite investment case studies. That kind of underpins the philosophy of hte firm and how they want to create value.
With that being said, they've been building our their operations group to help portcos, so a little A16z-esque and have good momentum behind them. In my opinion, it would probably be a slightly more fun place to work than a summit/TA, but with that being said, if your goal was to move onto a MF in PE, I would imagine the day to day work is a little less technical finance oriented. I'd imagine the analyst role is pretty sourcing heavy.
