You're going to have to be social, confident and good at convincing people in any finance career. This isn't rocket science or comp sci where you can just do the hard skills job forever, so soft skills really start to matter once you get to VP or so. In both of these careers, lots of really technically strong people sputter around VP or so because they're no longer just sitting in the model.

Even if it's not your natural default, practice the soft skills now, prioritize things that get you out of your comfort zone and more confident 

 

You can still be social as an introvert. On average PE is nerdier than IB but you still have to be able to sell yourself especially to the management team in a competitive process as an MD in PE
