Is Harvard week-long Private Equity and Venture Capital program worth it?
I am an entrepreneur and in my late 40s. I just learned I was admitted into HBS’ Private Equity and Venture Capital program. It’s week long and $12K tuition. Was wondering how the program is views by professionals and will it be a good ROI investment? Will very much appreciate your insights
Based on the most helpful WSO content, the value of such programs often depends on your specific goals and current career trajectory. For an entrepreneur in their late 40s, the Harvard Private Equity and Venture Capital program could provide significant networking opportunities, exposure to high-level concepts, and insights into PE/VC strategies. However, the ROI is subjective and hinges on how you leverage the program.
If you're looking to transition into private equity or venture capital, or if your entrepreneurial ventures could benefit from a deeper understanding of these fields, the program might be worth the investment. The Harvard brand and network are undeniably strong, and the connections you make could open doors. However, if you're expecting immediate financial returns or a direct career shift, the $12K tuition might not yield a tangible ROI unless you actively capitalize on the learnings and relationships.
Professionals often emphasize that such programs are most valuable for networking and gaining credibility in the industry. If you already have a strong network or are not planning to pivot into PE/VC, the program's value might be less impactful.

Never heard of it. $12K for a week? What could they possibly give you that you wouldn’t get yourself through self study and networking? You might as well check out some of the PE/VC conferences that HBS and Wharton do in the spring if you wanted to network that bad. B schools are getting way too cute with these exorbitant programs squeezing every dime out of mid-career folks.
