Yes - it is not easy to find meaning in the PE job mostly because there isn't an intrinsically one. If all asset managers disappeared the world would more or less go on as it has with some marginal positives and negatives relative to the status quo. If all teachers, doctors, plumbers, HVAC, chefs, cooks go away we'd be in for a rough go.
