Lateral Analyst to MF?
Let's say hypothetically that a non-target starts at a MM IB and laterals to a top BB/EB after 6 months to a year. Would they be able to recruit at the next on-cycle and be able to land MF/UMM roles? How likely is this to happen and is there a stigma against this type of candidate vs. a person who directly started at a BB/EB?
Bump
No
I think more experience in IB would be expected (like your 2 years as an analyst) but don’t take my word on it. Plenty of people lateral from MM to BB after 1 year, but they tend to stay at the BB for at least a year or more, before moving to the buyside.
Exceptions do exist, but they are not the norm, from what I’m led to believe.
I mean usually when you recruit on cycle, the PE start date is 2 years out and it is understood that you will continue in your bank until then
