Lateraling for better Exits

May have the opportunity to lateral from a low tier EB in a specialized coverage group that I feel is pigeonholing me to one go the top groups on the street (MS/JPM/GS). Will this help for lateraling to MF/UMM PE? Will I be delayed a year?

It's honestly up to you. Unless you are in a super niche group like PCA (not something like FIG or NatRes), think you should be able to get good looks at the EB you're at. The "top" group might get you slightly more looks, but would probably have to either do off-cycle or try to position yourself for next year's on-cycle (which might be a risk in of itself).
