LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO INTERVIEW ABOUT TOYS R US LBO

Hi guys,

I am looking to interview private equity workers who were involved with the brand during the LBO or after for a school assignment. You can choose to remain anonymous but I would really appreciate your insight at all! Even if you have no direct relationship to toys r us but maybe a relationship to the private equity industry and are knowledgeable about the Toys R Us LBO, that would be okay too!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, your best bet would be to reach out to professionals in the private equity industry who have experience with LBOs, even if they weren't directly involved with the Toys R Us deal. Here are a few tips to help you find interviewees:

  1. Leverage Alumni Networks: If you're in school, tap into your university's alumni network. Many business schools have strong connections to private equity professionals, and alumni are often willing to help students with assignments.

  2. LinkedIn Outreach: Search for professionals who worked at Bain Capital, KKR, or Vornado Realty Trust during the time of the Toys R Us LBO (2005-2018). These firms were directly involved in the deal. Send polite and concise messages explaining your project and requesting a brief interview.

  3. WSO Forums: Post your request in the Wall Street Oasis forums under the Private Equity section. Many users are industry professionals or have connections to those who might have insights into the Toys R Us LBO.

  4. Cold Emailing: Research private equity professionals who specialize in retail or have experience with distressed assets. Use their company websites or LinkedIn profiles to find contact information and send a professional email.

  5. Anonymous Insights: If anonymity is a concern for potential interviewees, offer to conduct the interview without recording names or identifying details. This might make them more comfortable sharing insights.

Good luck with your assignment!

What is the objective / reason behind this ask?

"If you want to succeed in this life, you need to understand that duty comes before rights and that responsibility precedes opportunity."

You're never going to find someone who was on that deal team that will talk to you about that deal. Probably better off changing your project topic because this one's a dud.
