Making the jump from PE to Corp Dev - any job advice?

2 years of PE later, I've decided to make the jump over to the corporate side. A number of reasons for this, but mostly comes down to wanting to have some semblance of a life, but still do analytical finance work and use the skillset I've built.

It'll be a pretty lean operation (I'm gonna be the point person for all things corporate finance), and I know the sponsors are ones that like to..."push forward" if that makes any sense. Liekly lots of strategic planning, corporate modeling, capital raise, selective M&A, etc.

There's a lot of threads on here for people starting out in PE, with the advice essentially boiling down to: triple check your work, have a view, be proactive, etc. Which is all fine.

Any tips for people making the opposite jump? While exciting, it's a role where there's higher visibility in a different way, and it feels like the "initiative" is much more self-motivated as it can often be less defined, versus say getting a CIM and knowing exactly what to do. 

What were some things that you didn't expect? What were ways to help your transition? What mindset helped you succeed? I'm hoping this can be something I can do sustainable in the long-term, where I realized I'd be deeply unhappy in PE, so I want to hit the ground running.
