Managing PE recruitment process

Background: in process with large fund for 2+ months.

Timeline:

  • Initially they rushed process with compressed timeline
  • I felt unprepared and asked to reschedule R1 interviews
  • Eventually completed first interview (performance was mediocre)
  • Second interview was cancelled twice on 1 hour notice
  • They promised to reschedule and get back
  • Complete radio silence since then

    Current Situation:
  • Waited to book travel plans until hearing from them
  • After no response, had to proceed with booking non-refundable trip for this weekend
  • They may now respond this week

Given this timeline - should I:
        1.    Push through - accommodate interviews this week despite travel conflicts (could do Friday AM from hotel)
        2.    Accept it’s over - extended delays + silence likely means they’ve moved on
What’s the read here? Is this salvageable or are they just stringing me along at this point?

At this point, I wouldn't schedule your life around this interview. If this was a date, you'd have written off your chances by now (or at least wouldn't be saving your Thursday nights for a follow-up).

If they come back, you can play it out, but they're clearly in no hurry, so if you have to punt a few days to accommodate your travels, doesn't sound like it'll cost you the seat (which appears low odds if you didn't catch my takeaway above).
