Market PE Associate Comp
Is it weird if a fund extends an offer and refuses to communicate an all-in comp target but describes it as “market”? What is market pay for an A1 in MF PE / PC now with increases on the banking side? Any differences for RE or infra?
Bump.
You can’t sign up to a job where you don’t know what you will get paid
Did they give you a base at least? I would say market is ~300k+ now for an associate, sounds like most MFs in the $325-350 range now on the buyout side but agree they should communicate that to you.
I work at a large PC (not MF credit) and pay for Asso 1 is around $320k. MF is a bit higher id imagine (im thinking maybe at BX/Apollo; I’ve had HH reach out to me for Bain and Carlyle with $250 all-ins though). Would also imagine PE pay to be higher too. Just wanted to provide a data point in case helpful.
When you mean large PC, are you referring to one of the larger private credit shops like HPS, Golub, etc? What is the split for your comp? 50/50 between base and bonus and assuming the 320 excludes any relocation? Thanks for the detail
That's interesting - I know Bain has definitely bumped to $300 all-in; they're paying similar comp ranges across all their strategies at the junior levels. Have no idea about Carlyle though - would be shocked if they're still paying $250 but then again, have heard that Carlyle seems to be one of the least active out of its peers in the PC space
