I would say the MFs that come the closest to such a goal would be Bain, WP, and Vista, all three MFs with a history of promoting from analysts to Partner. However, the Partner track is definitely far more extended than what it once was.

Realize the question was with regard to MFPE, but if you are truly optimizing for a potential partner track it’s important to note the angle of MM/UMM. These firms are usually smaller headcount-wise and are able give more attention to career development at the junior level. I’m at what I would consider to be MM/UMM and up until recently was the only associate. I was able to take on my VP’s responsibilities at my own pace and that makes the bridge to VP more manageable. The comp may be slightly less but oftentimes that’s reflected in less hours. I work about 65 hrs/week at the senior associate level.

If you’re looking for partner track it’s not going to be possible if you get burnt out in 5 years at a sweatshop/MF. If you can handle the hours more power to you, but just not what was most important for me and diminishing returns at the 90th percentile IMO. JMTC
