Middle Market Compensation
I've been studying for private equity interviews for a few months and feel ready for interviews, but had a question about compensation. Just began analyst program at a BB IB, over the next 5-6 years, would my compensation at a MM or LMM PE fund be worth making the switch from IB? Have come to realize that the megafunds and UMM funds would definetely be worth it, but haven't heard much about the MM and LMM.
A good bank is definitely going to be paying more (all in) than your average MM / LMM shop. The upside to MM / LMM PE comes further down the line when, if you can do well and move up the ladder, you start getting meaningful carry in the fund and have a lot of upside.
