MM IB vs LMM GE
Currently have an offer to join top MM bank (think Baird, HL, WB) in a solid group and have an offer to join a small GE shop (between 1 - 2 billion aum) as an analyst. Thinking of potential GE long term but I do want to keep my options open on the rest of buy side. Which will give me the best exit opps and potential career opportunities?
For me taking the GE opp would depend on a couple points.
1. Position day to day: are you smiling and dialing or would you get some execution experience?
2. Firm: Partner quality (returns / number of funds raised / dry powder) and culture (are they invested in your career development)
FWIW a growth equity firm of $1-$2 billion is more MM than LMM
Pretty loose with your “top” bank designation.
