MM PE Exit Opps

Starting as an analyst FT at a MM PE fund with ∼$2bn latest fund size (looking to raise ∼$5bn for next fund).

What are the likely opportunities for me if I decide to leave? Top BB/EB? Any chance at a MF?

Not planning to leave right away, just want to gauge my options

I've just seen so many people trying to break into MF and not quite sure why… guessing prestige and brand name… but what else? Maybe there's more to it than what I'm seeing but MF isn't too pretty as you might think… it's very hierarchical and will take years to break into principal level and maybe once in a life time chance to get MD or partner… juniors are viewed as replaceable and these mega deals are rarely transferable skillset. If you think about returns, MF tend to show beta return as their large cap deals find difficult exits other than ipo….then you never know what happens if market crashes and your position is stuck for another 6mths.MM PE is more risky of course but i find them more interesting and theres clearly more to learn. Your inputs matter here. Your value creation efforts shine..and of course porco exits are easier in this space (as long as you have a quality asset) which then helps you clip carry…so why not just work your way up at MM PE? And why would you even consider BB? Just curious if there's somthing else that you are trying to achieve…Small caveat is that not all MM PEs are going to have stellar or generate alpha return….There's clear winners and losers in this market…but if you are on a good shop i think theres more to learn and it's better to make your way there (also easier if you grow with your firm)… unless you are burned out and want to think about something else.. that's a different story
