MO at Top Credit Fund → LevFin IB at MM Bank….Worth the Lateral?
Currently in a middle office role at a well-known credit fund (think large AUM, strong brand in private credit). Been here ~1 year post-grad, with prior experience in a Big 4-type role.
I’ve been presented with an opportunity to lateral into a leveraged finance investment banking role at a middle-market bank (not top-tier, but solid deal flow and recognized platform).
Long-term goal is private equity (likely MM / LMM, potentially in the Southeast), and I’m trying to evaluate whether making this move meaningfully improves my trajectory versus staying put and trying to lateral internally or externally from the credit side.
