morgan stanley alternative investments partners (private equity fund) vs Real estate investing?
Anyone know how the two groups compare? I applied to them but I haven't heard. Have I been rejected?

Can confirm. Interviewed for this group (West Conshohocken office) and that's what was described to me. Very legit group with less intensive diligence / somewhat better WLB than a typical GP. OP, you'll just have to find out which asset class you enjoy more if comparing this to real estate investing -- it's apples to oranges.
When I interviewed (analyst position), I had the following rounds:
Resume Screen
Pymetrics test (or similar)
Phone screen (20 minutes with an associate)
Case studies (2hr20m in total. 20 minutes attention to detail test, 30 minutes writing test, 1hr30 hour modeling test)
Interviews with the team (I had 7 back to back totaling 3.5 hours)
