Negotiation competing entry level offers?
Hi Monkeys - I have been doing reading and it for an entry level role I don’t add much value which I understand. In my situation I have two competing offers. The firm I prefer is about 5-10k lower than another firm I have an offer for (base). Bonus pay is about the same, and location wise the lower base is more ideal. I was told through initial screen from the lower base firm that the pay was at X level which is why I am surprised about the lower amount. I am heavily considering both, and was wondering if anyone advises to strategically ask about compensation flexibility? For context I’m a first gen student, don’t come from money so everything helps. I could paint a story that would validate my request, but I am looking for guidance. If both offers were the same I know which one I would take. If so who do I talk to? HR? VP I have been in contact with? Send an email with the request? Set up a call then disclose?
Can you clarify - is this PE or IB? Sounds like PE analyst program?
Either way, $5-10k (even if it seems material now) is completely insignificant longer-term. I wouldn't negotiate as these offers are probably quite standardized. Pick the one you want. This spread is not worth negotiating or skipping your desired spot.
