Networking for PE firms in MBA Program

Hi guys, I am currently an MBA student at an M7 (non-HSW) with a fairly large pipeline into PE. I have 5 interviews for my 2026 summer internship with PE firms through on campus recruiting, but I am getting a little antsy and realize that I should get in touch with more PE firms through networking. When reaching out to a PE firm, how should I go about doing it? Should I be very direct with the people I reach out to and say I am seeking a PE internship with their fund and would love to schedule some time to talk and attach my resume, or should I be more indirect and not attach my resume? In addition, what level should I be reaching out to? Should I be reaching out to VPs and above only? Is it frowned upon to reach out to Partners at the firm?
