Analyst 1 in IB - Cov

Any mid-tier BB (Citi, BofA, Barc) placements?

Barc HC and Tech have placed well (at Barc and my group struggles alot more).

Have heard CD&R, Carlyle, WCAS, TPG Growth, HIG, TA, etc. in the last two classes

I’m an MM in non-nyc but signed into European MF in NYC but it was off cycle

This thread screams of embellishment / bsing to me

The amount of people that supposedly know the precise # of MF/UMM placements for their non top group is odd

In many groups analysts are pretty open with each other, especially if their bank isn’t strict about recruiting. Not unusual to know what everyone in your class is doing. You often have to tell other analysts so they can cover for you.

How many total offers out for on-cycle? Think previous years was more like 150-200 with Class of 2024 being under 100.

Safe to assume that out of ~800 associate roles at >$1B funds, 300 have been filled so far for 2027?

Where are these figures coming from? Not saying wrong just curious on the 800 roles

Nowhere near that. It's really only UMM/MF's that go for on-cycle as is usual, and almost none of them fill their full classes. Numbers are prob closer to ~200. Not true it was 150-200 in previous years; closer to 100 for pure control buyout (maybe 150 if you include the growth or special situations or hybrid seats), would think more spots this year than mine and more than the last year. Important to note that on-cycle is only that 48 - 72 hour time-period and most firms give offers for at most half their spots. If you include offers in the month post on-cycle maybe then do you get to the numbers you are citing.

How many seats would be filled by now with the first week of OCR as well as a big wave of post OCR recruiting in the month of Jan? Safe to 300 of the 800 >$1bn fund seats are filled?

Initial estimates for OCR was ~150. Maybe 250 now then?
