Other than Carlyle, Apollo, BX, Vista what funds have +20% lifetime net returns?
Just curious. I see Bain is like 13% which is pretty meh. Hard to find the numbers for a lotta big ones like TA, H&F, Riverstone etc.
I’d really just love to see a top 100 of the best returning funds with a 10+ year track record.
Following
According to a study from HEC, EU-base Waterland is one of the top performing PE companies in the world. Not sure how accurate these studies are. Waterland is also significantly smaller than Apollo or BX.
Also KKR at 26%+
Might sound stupid.. How to calculate life time net IRR?
Well I actually found out the way they calculate is almost fraudulent. They assume that all funds were re-invested at the rate they were earning, so if they had a 40% fund as their first, this will make their lifetime returns look absurdly good, because it will assume 40% reinvestment after the fund returned money and essentially it would be worth like $2T today. I think Apollo's net money-weighted returns are actually like mid-teens
Are you sure Carlyle and BX have 20%+ returns? Doubtful that’s true.
Some of the top returning guys that come to mind: Thoma, Vista, Genstar, H&F, Veritas, Clearlake, New Mountain, CD&R
I'm not sure how some of the returns above are being calculated, I'm just looking exclusively at their flagship funds and over the last 20 years have they generated 20%+ on all their funds.
Based on that you can add Insight, TA, GTCR to the list.
Blackstone buyout funds definitely do not return 20% net. Neither does Apollo btw, Fund VI is ~8%, Fund VIII is ~9%.
As I said above

Up Dog
Like others mentioned, I think your source data is off. A lot of those firms have had some surprisingly disappointing funds recently (e.g. Vista)
A lot of the UMM / “Lesser known” MFs perform very, very well. Thoma, Genstar, AS, Silver Lake, etc
As I said, upon digging, these firms BS the IRR numbers like crazy.
