Pagaya Investments - anyone know anything?
Hi monkeys - anyone know about companies like Pagaya, Square, Venmo, BlockFi, etc.
Have a corp. strategy role lined up (associate level) with the opportunity to be promoted to PM style role within 1-3yrs. Do these types of shops have a good reputation or good exit opportunities if I decide it isn't up my ally? Thinking I want to transition to tech-focused VC in the next few years and not sure if adding this to my background would be valuable to VC's combined with my few years working at tech startups in a strategy/operations role.
"These types of shops" isn't really a category that exists, Pagaya is unique and there aren't any clear comps. It's a hot startup but close to going public so not sure how valuable the experience would be in VC recruiting. Probably would not hurt but I wouldn't count on it massively improving your odds either. Your options will likely be struck at a very high valuation as well.
Roger - that's good info... are roles like this better for corporate growth (strategy, manager, or internal M&A) rather than transitioning to the investment side (incl. growth and private equity, HF, etc.?) Trying to keep my options a bit open as I'm not totally sure what I want though I have leaned towards VC.
