PE Networking Best Practices

Anyone have advice on how to approach networking with PE professionals, while also being an IB Analyst on the other side of the table where my firm frequently shows them deals…? Are there any “unwritten rules” here I should be aware of? Obviously don’t discuss live processes or any client-specific info but any other guidance would be helpful. I work at a Boutique IB currently doing LMM deals and really enjoy working with a lot of these LMM/MM PE firms. I’m ultimately looking to build relationships and grow my network but want to make sure I do so professionally. Also if this is just a bad idea and not the right approach, please tell me. Targeted networking is how I got my current IB role and would be my preferred route to a finding the right PE role for the future, as opposed to on-cycle recruiting.
