PE On-Cycle (From IB)

Im a summer analyst at IB BAML and wondering what on-cycle recruiting looks like for analysts here. Do they get a shot at the MF/UMM? Does going to a top 3 school help them compensate for not being in Evercore/GS? Just wondering how this works in terms of who gets interviews since there are so many analysts

take this with a grain of salt, but nearly everyone I know that got interviews for on-cycle are at Evercore/top groups at GS. Would assume MS M&A, PJT RSSG, Laz etc. got interviews as well. It seems like pretty much everyone at MBB / other BBs hardly got any interviews.

EBs dominates PE recruiting it seems like... at least for on-cycle. Probably a function of EB analysts being more technically prepared

I am at a bank that has gotten shit on a ton recently (BofA/Barclays) in a top group and received a few MF invites, along with some other incoming analysts.

Tbh this cycle is such a shit show I would recommend sitting out and go off cycle. There is literally no point what so ever.

Completely agree with this. In fact, nobody should do on cycle but me. Thanks guys!
