PE profile - reach vs realistic

Finished first year in HSW and shifted from finance heavy consulting (ofc not with the rigour of banking but fairly in depth for consulting given I did several due diligences) to VC (only industry I recruited to).

Internship is going well but I don’t feel stocked about the job (it’s too much high level for what I personally like) and want to try recruiting into PE as an international in the US.

Realistically, what are the best PE shops I can aspire to?

I don’t know a lot about the industry current state so I am sorry if something I say seems a bit “detached from reality” but I assume KKR/Apollo etc are completely out of reach for me because other applicants have PE direct exposure which I don’t have. What are maybe 5-10 great firms I could potentially aspire with my background?
