PE Recruiting Advice Needed

I was planning on recruiting once recruiting kicked off again in January. However, while I am in a top RX IBD, I have not got any active deal experience. I am on one deal, but have done nothing for it since it is inactive. I have done 4 pitches and a lot of large marketing materials. I previously was in distressed credit and did a lot of special sits investing and so have deals from that. I realize my move to IBD from the buyside was unconventional but was for the purpose of escaping credit and going to PE with RX as the inbetween). I talked to my staffer about putting me on a deal ASAP and he apologized...Bottom line is should I hold off from January recruiting for MFs? Has my staffer screwed me? I think my MDs and VPs (if relevant) will go to bat hard for me if a firm calls for a review and I have done a strong job so far just have got unlucky from staffing perspective
